What is hackucd?

A one-day student hackathon run by UCD Netsoc and UCD I&E. You show up, build something cool with your team and present it at the end of the day.

When is it?

October 2026. The exact date is still being confirmed — a full schedule will follow.

Who can apply?

Any current third-level student. You don't have to be at UCD, and you don't have to be studying computer science.

Do I need a team?

No. Apply on your own or with people you already know. If you apply alone we will place you into a team.

Do I need experience?

No. Beginners are always welcome and we encourage everyone to apply regardless of their course, experience or background.

Are there themes or challenges?

The themes and challenges will be announced on the day!

What should I bring?

A laptop, a charger, and your student ID. Everything else is covered, including meals and snacks throughout the day.

Is it free?

Yes. There's no ticket price and no entry fee.

Will there be food?

Meals and snacks are provided throughout the day. There will be an opportunity to tell us about any dietary requirements if accepted.
